Vocal Mix was formed in mid 2022 to provide an opportunity for singers from the two different barbershop communities to sing together in a mixed chorus. Barbershop in Australia has historically been divided into separate male (BHA) and female (SAI) organisations. However, in 2021 BHA became fully inclusive and this has paved the way for the formation of more mixed voice barbershop choruses. Vocal Mix is the first new chorus to have been formed in Western Australia since this change.
